AquiCirc - Managed Aquifer Recharge for a Circular Water Future (Water4All)

Programme: Water4All – European Partnership

Call: 2024 JOINT TRANSNATIONAL CALL on “Water for Circular Economy”

Project acronym: AquiCirc

Project title: “AquiCirc – Managed Aquifer Recharge for a Circular Water Future.”

Description: AquiCirc project aims to advance the understanding of physical, chemical, and biological processes governing Managed Aquifer Recharge (MAR) systems, with a focus on the fate of Contaminants of Emerging Concern (CECs) in complex hydrogeological settings. Through the development of advanced numerical models, the project addresses key knowledge gaps related to surface–subsurface flow, reactive contaminant transport, and the coupling between hydrological and biogeochemical processes. All activities are exclusively oriented toward the production of new scientific knowledge, with no development of prototypes, industrial processes, or commercial applications.

Project starting date: 01/04/2026
Project end date: 31/03/2029
Duration: 36 months
